What Hello Mornings Means To Me

What is it that gets me out of bed so early? It is Hello Mornings, an online group of woman who encourage one another to get up for their children, not to their children. We encourage one another by sharing God’s Word and prayer requests.  I get out of bed excited to spend time alone with God, meet with friends and then meet my family feeling joyful and energized by the Word and fellowship. This time, Hello Mornings time, has come to mean so much to me.

Time Alone with God

After fixing my cup of coffee, I head out to my mom cave where I begin my day with prayer and singing. Since joining Hello Mornings, I have used the Focused 15 study of 1 Corinthians 13 along with Love Like Him with the rest of the women.  The study of love has come at the perfect time and made a big impact on my life. Christ has used this study to redeem a word that had been tarnished for me. I have been made to examine and change my view of love, taking hold of that which is true. The most eye opening moment was when I realized that by bowing to my fears, I was keeping a record of wrongs. At that moment, I realized that I had not only held love away from others, but also from Jesus.

As I have embraced this love anew, God has brought about change in me. I desire love more than ever and seek it intentionally. Most significantly, I make the demonstration of love the priority of my choices. This is most evident in how I discipline and lead my children. Regardless of the volume of my voice, I realize that if I do not speak in love, I am only making noise.  So it is in everything I do. Without love, I am nothing.

Time with Hello Morning Friends

Joining the Hello Morning conversation on Twitter is like walking into a virtual party. The room is filled with women who are excited about God’s Word in their lives.  I have the chance to immediately share what I have learned. I take in verses, thoughts and resolutions shared by others. It is invigorating and exciting. It cements the study in my mind. Friendships are built during this time as we share our thoughts and prayer requests. I can almost hear their sweet #hellomornings when they tweet!

Time For My Family

It could be tempting to stay on the computer the entire morning to watch God’s Word come to life on Twitter, but that would defeat the purpose. As with most of the women, my purpose is to be fed so that I can feed my family. Therefore, I have made a commitment to sign off by a certain time. I come out of my mom cave fully awake and ready for the day.

Walking into the house, I greet my family with a smile and a cheerful, “Good morning!” It is always a blessing to feed my children breakfast along with the blessings God has given me for them. We are all blessed by Mom’s time alone with God and time with special women.

Hello Mornings has impacted and inspired me. My plan is to continue participating as long as the Lord permits. When this time comes to an end (because there is a time for everything) I will carry with me the habits developed, memories made and lessons learned.

Thank you God for Hello Mornings,

For the aroma of coffee mingled with an aroma of praise,

For meaningful time alone with you,

For bird songs, chicken clucks and morning breezes.

Thank you for time to dig deep in your word,

For opening my heart and pulling out weeds,

For growing your fruit in me.

Thank you for connecting friend across the continent

Who inspire, encourage and lift one another before your throne.

Thank you for my little blessings and for giving us our daily bread.

You are all knowing, Lord,

Able to do mighty things in me,

In woman all over the world

 And in two simple words,

“Hello Mornings!”

What an amazing group! I’ve never heard of Hello Mornings before.  This would be a real challenge for me as my little guy gets up around 6…so getting up earlier than him would truly be a miraculous work of the Lord! : )

If you desire to have quiet time in the morning, there are women who are in your situation. They have lots of advice to offer. My oldest son use to get up at 5:00.  When he was two and half, we started putting out a bowl of Cheerios and let him watch a video until we were ready for him. By the time he was six, we had three early risers. We then taught them to stay on their beds (looking at books or playing quietly) until Mom and Dad came for them at 7:00. Now, our oldest is eleven. (Time flies!) He is a driven child, so we let him get up when he’s ready, usually 6:15. He quietly does his chores and takes the dog for a walk.  Breakfast is ready by the time he gets back and the others are allowed to come out.  Don’t worry. The kids grow up and, with lots of training, it gets better!

What a great idea, Tereasa! I’ve always been an early riser because I don’t like the person I am when I DON’T spend time with the Lord first thing. No ma’am, I’m not very nice AT ALL. Maybe I can check you gals out from time to time!

Susan, I’m the same way. I taught my children at a very young age to stay in bed until I say so that I could have my quiet time. Hello mornings gave me the push to get an even earlier start (also giving me time to write) and adds a ton of fun to the end of my QT.

Lovely to read your post, also doing hello mornings here in South Africa. It has been a real blessing to me!

Well, hello mornings to you!  So lovely to meet you.  Do you have a blog?

What happens if you’re a guy and you don’t have a group of lovely support group of ladies to wake up to? LOL

It was so nice to read Tereasa that you practice self-control when it comes to Twitter. I know people that can stay on their for hours and it definitely takes a toll on their productivity and relationships.

LOL. Good question. I have two answers. The first place a man should find “one another” is with his wife. Then, he could be the solution to his problem by starting an online group or a local group. Many churches have Facebook groups. Several times my husband has been a part of weekly breakfast groups.

This post reminds me how important that quiet time is before the craziness of the day begins! Thanks for sharing!

Tereasa, I’m so glad you’ve taken the opportunity and seized your quiet time before the rest of your family start their day.  It sounds wonderful!  You’ve made your mornings sound absolutely abundant in love and beauty.  Thanks so much for sharing.
