Are You Ready to Tell Your Story?

A special welcome to those visiting from Denise in Bloom today. Reflections of a Survivor, the story which I mentioned in my guest post, can be found here. Be sure to say hello in a comment so I can welcome you personally!

My hands folded in my criss-crossed lap on top of the hard floor. My back hunched as my face turned up to listen. Surprised by his honesty and inspired by his faith, my eyes took in the scene and my ears clung to his words.  I was a teenager, full of wonder, as I listened for the first time to someone give his testimony.  A man I looked up to showed me that anyone could be saved and used by God. Since then, I have heard many stories of lives changed by grace.

This week, Nikki from Simply Striving wrote about the value in sharing a story and the importance of being ready. I was excited by her post because it relayed the power of story in day to day life. With the popularity of blogs, there is a growing trend to share our stories online. People recognize that their lives are God’s stories. They want to encourage others and use their past for good. They are powerful and memorable. Whether we speak of God’s grace online or in person, it is important to be prepared.

If you have spent much time on my blog, you know that I am a story-teller. The most precious story I have shared was the most difficult to begin.  It took preparation; not in the form of a brainstorm or outline, but in the form of prayer and encouragement. Join me today, at Denise in Bloom, as I share how one should prepare to share her story.

“Sharing your story could be the best thing to come out of a bad experience.” This is so very true. As a counselor I know it’s true and from my own wounds and brokenness, I know it is true. Thanks for sharing your own story that we might learn and grow closer to the Author of all our stories. Blessings!

The glory of God in your story captivates me, Tereasa. and I’m starting to realize it’s there in all of our stories, regardless of circumstances. And I am loving the adventure of discovering what His grace has saved us each from. Thank you, friend, for inspiring me to join in and share ~ Hugs to you, friend!

I have often thought how everyone, especially if Christian, has stories which, if they die with the person, leave us poorer than we could have been if we’d only gotten to hear/read them. I’m glad you’re writing about this. Now I have to hop over to Denise in Bloom!

I love that quote. It’s so true. We all have a story.
